Atelier D

Founded in 2003, Atelier D is a Paris-based architectural firm specializing in sustainable and regenerative design. Led by partners Vanessa Grob (Chile), Mattias Piani (Italy), and Ilhem Belhatem (Algeria), the firm is dedicated to creating architecture that is environmentally responsible, socially engaged, and contextually sensitive. Atelier D integrates eco-friendly practices into every aspect of their projects, from material selection to energy efficiency. Notably, they designed one of France's first multi-story hempcrete residential buildings in Paris's 13th arrondissement, demonstrating the viability of bio-based materials in urban settings. Their portfolio includes international projects such as the Supreme Court and EU headquarters in Burundi, as well as urban regeneration initiatives in Santiago, Chile. In 2016, Vanessa Grob launched Public Space Lab, a platform aimed at promoting regenerative development and enhancing public space engagement through participatory design.
